İYTE team from Faculty of Architecture won first place in Bursa Metropolis Municipality’s important competition

Research assistants Dr. Seçkin Kutucu and Dr. Ebru Yılmaz from Department of Architecture, and Uğur Bozkurt from Department of City and Regional Planning created a team, which won first place in the “Architectural and Urban Design Competition of The Public Square in The District of Bursa Bus Terminal”. This is one of the most important urban transformation projects of Bursa Metropolis Municipality.


İYTE students became the second winning team of Microsoft Imagine Cup 2005 Turkey

İYTE students Oktay Erbey, Hünkar Göçen, Burak Dokuzer participated in Microsoft Imagine Cup 2005 with their project “Lifeguard” and became the second winning team of Turkey among 37 contestant projects from 15 universities. Microsoft Imagine Cup is a prestigious global contest. This year our Institute was represented by two different projects in this contest.

The second winning team’s project purports the following:
In the case of an accident, with the help of a device mounted on private vehicles and 112 Emergency Service ambulances, the location of the accident will be alerted to the 112 Emergency Service via satellite links by GPS. The nearest 112 Ambulances can be determined via satellites and directed to the accident site. The formation about the accident will be conveyed to the Traffic Police via the same channels by the first arriving ambulance. Another significant service is that close relatives and friends may receive information of the victims’ condition. The project will be implemented by Izmir 112 Emergency Services in the coming weeks.

"İYTE-Wireless" designated Centre of Excellence by European Commission

The results of the European Commission 6th Framework call for SSA proposals on "Centres of Excellence in Turkey, Bulgaria and Romania" are announced. The project "Developing Wireless Communication Networks and Multimedia Research Centre at IYTE" under the coordination of Assistant Prof. Serdar Özen from the Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering, has been selected for support with 750.000 EU for three years. Out of 138 proposals from Turkey, 120 from Romania and 88 from Bulgaria, 25 centres have been selected as centres of excellence. Total of 14 Researchers, who are faculty members of the Departments of Electrical and Electronics Enginering, and Computer Engineering, will be employed in IYTE-Wireless Centre.
