| Student Associations and Campus Sports Activities |
|
In order to promote and facilitate the growth of students to a full and balanced maturity, the Institute supports student-initiated associations for activity outside the classroom. Each association is a forum enabling students to develop their gifts, exercise social and administrative responsibility, and—it goes without saying—to have fun. The associations are student-governed, with a faculty member to each for consultation. Most of those associations whose area of activity admit of public exhibition mount one or more performances and events each year.
Associations register new members at the start of the academic year in welcoming gatherings organised for the occasion or at stands set up in lobbies and cafés of academic buildings and other major gathering points such as the Main Cafeteria.
A student-initiated organising committee comprised of associations’ representatives hold a week-long annual Spring Fest during which classes are cancelled and rock bands perform through the night on the Fest Lawn. This is a week of unceasing activity of beach volleyball, poetry recital, chamber music, post-rock, and a dizzying variety of food. |
